At Sy-Con Excavation & Utilities, we're proud to serve as the General Contractor for the comprehensive utility installation at Thaden Field located at Bentonville Municipal Airport. This critical project involves the meticulous adherence to local specifications, FAA guidelines, and stringent safety standards.
Project Details:
Excavation and Material Handling: Over 52,000 yards of surplus material were removed, equivalent to roughly 4,600 tri-axle dump truck loads. This extensive cut and fill operation reshaped the entire site, preparing it for further development.
Water Main Installation: We installed 800 linear feet of 8-inch C900 water main, complete with four fire hydrant assemblies and two 8-inch tapping saddles and valves, enhancing fire protection capabilities across both sides of the development.
Storm Drainage Systems: Comprehensive storm drainage infrastructure was established to handle runoff efficiently, ensuring durability and functionality throughout the area.
Taxiway Preparation: The subgrade for the proposed taxiway was expertly prepared, involving a 5-foot average cut and precise blue topping/base grading for asphalt application, in line with FAA requirements.
Asphalt and Concrete Work: We managed and coordinated the asphalt installation for the taxiway and all concrete installations, including taxi and ground lighting embedments, following all FAA guidelines and specifications.
Environmental Considerations: Hydroseeding across all disturbed areas was conducted to promote rapid vegetation growth and soil stabilization.
Safety and Compliance: Throughout the project, we ensured all trench safety practices adhered to OSHA standards, maintaining a secure environment for our team and the airport operations.
Contract Terms:
Duration: The project was structured around a 75-day contract term with the City of Bentonville, demonstrating our commitment to efficient project management and timely execution.
